Entheogenic medicines, also known as psychedelics, and plant medicines are substances that produce altered states of consciousness. Some of the more well-known entheogens include Ketamine, Psilocybin, Ayahuasca, LSD, DMT, and MDMA. Many cultures have been using these substances to help facilitate a spiritual experience that triggers deep growth and understanding of one's self. If you have been following the national conversation on entheogenic medicine, there has been a lot of positive progress when using these substances to help promote mental wellness. While some of these medicines have seen legalization there is still work that needs to be done around the preparation and integration process. These medicines are very powerful and that is why they must be taken in the right set and setting. Taking them in the wrong set and setting could result in a traumatic experience and further add to the issues that you are already facing. This is why preparation, navigation, and integration are crucial components of the transformation process.

The preparation process will help you become well-informed about the entheogen you plan on working with, so you feel as comfortable as possible when you step into a healing space. It is about laying the foundation for profound awakening and transformation. This process begins as soon as you agree to take the entheogen. During preparation, we will establish your readiness for the entheogen and select tools that will best aid you during your psychedelic experience. Another key factor will be establishing your intentions and not forming expectations before going into medicine. Establishing an intention gives you direction during the process and guides you toward the most beneficial healing. Because these medicines tend to be very strong, one can get lost in the experience and “trip on the trip,” instead of using it to heal parts of yourself that have shown resistance. Part of the preparation process is helping you select the right facility to take the entheogenic medicine. If you have not selected a place, this is a critical step, especially if you plan on traveling outside the country. People have experienced issues finding places that create and hold a safe space for them during their experience. It is critical to find a reputable organization where people have reported safe guided healing experiences.

I will help prepare you to navigate entheogenic medicine, providing you with the necessary tools that can be utilized during your journey. There can be times during your experience that might not be comfortable, and you may be faced with some unease, whether it spans from what the medicine is trying to show you or getting caught in fighting your ego/self. Preparation can prevent the likelihood of that happening and reduce the risk of a “bad trip.” Much of this work is learning to surrender to the experience. We will practice and review tools, skills, and strategies to help you confidently navigate your journey.

Integration can be the most essential part of the experience. After a journey, you are presented with a window of opportunity to implement real and lasting change. It extends your transformational work beyond the boundaries of the journey and allows for the effects to continue to act in your life. Without this step, it is easy to slip back into old patterns and becomes a missed opportunity for deep healing and growth. It presents new perspectives, clarity, spiritual connection, self-acceptance, and much more to your life. Without integration, you are at risk of missing out on all the benefits you could have received through your experience as well as wasting your time, energy, and money for no long-term results. You also can put yourself at risk of psychological instability and disruptions to your life. The integration process offers you a guided start to the next phase of your life journey.
